Setauket and East Setauket sit between Stony Brook and Port Jefferson in the Town of Brookhaven. The area was settled in the colonial era, and during the Revolutionary War it was home base for the Culper Spy Ring, the network of local residents who passed intelligence to George Washington. That history is still part of the landscape.

The Setauket village green anchors the old center, surrounded by historic buildings. Nearby, Frank Melville Memorial Park wraps around a mill pond with walking paths. To the north, Setauket Harbor and Conscience Bay sit off Port Jefferson Harbor, so boating and water views are part of life along the shore.

The housing stock reflects that long history. Around the green and along the older roads there are colonial era and nineteenth century homes, farmhouses, and restored historic properties.
